Dr. Michael Sartori is a partner in the firm's Intellectual Property Department. As a registered patent attorney, he focuses his practice on patent prosecution, patent portfolio counseling, and patent litigation. Prior to joining Baker Botts, Dr. Sartori served for over a decade as Chair of the Patent Prosecution and Counseling Group at another AMLaw XNUMX firm.
For patent prosecution and counseling, Dr. Sartori is a recognized thought leader in using Examiner analytics and provides a comprehensive, business-goal-orientated, data-driven approach to developing and managing his client's patent portfolios. Keeping his client's business objectives in mind, Dr. Sartori crafts and implements cost-effective strategies to assist his client's goals for their patent portfolio, whether U.S. only or worldwide.
For patent litigation and counseling, Dr. Sartori provides guidance prior to and during patent litigation, whether in an inter partes review (IPR), at a U.S. district court, or at the Federal Circuit. Lisa Kattan

Lisa Kattan serves as Baker Botts' International Trade Commission Practice Group Chair and the Chair of the firm's Washington D.C. IP group. Prior to joining Baker Botts, she was a Senior Investigative Attorney at the U.S. International Trade Commission's Office of Unfair Import Investigations for over five years. At the ITC, Ms. Kattan's responsibilities included serving as lead trial counsel on behalf of the U.S. Government in numerous high-profile investigations of accused products. She has been counsel in dozens of ITC proceedings, both at the ITC and in private practice.

Rob Maier is a lead trial lawyer at Baker Botts, and Chair of the Intellectual Property Group in our New York office. Multinational clients involved in patent and other IP cases across a broad spectrum of technologies, from semiconductor manufacturing and smartphones, to drink packaging and stem cells, rely on Rob's extensive experience.
Rob leads trial teams both in district courts and the ITC. His practice also extends into PTAB matters, patent preparation and prosecution, counseling on IP and big data issues, and due diligence in mergers and acquisitions. Jennifer Tempesta is a trial lawyer whose practice focuses on patent litigation in both district courts and the International Trade Commission. Multinational clients rely on Jennifer's significant experience with all phases of litigation in various jurisdictions, including discovery, Markman hearings, summary judgment, and through trial.
Jennifer is also well-versed in appellate practice and has argued at the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. Jennifer also handles proceedings at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board.
