He is one of the founding partners of Jenner & Block's Los Angeles office, is a co-chair partner of the firm's Japan practice, and is a member of the leadership team of the firm's renowned Commercial Complex Litigation practice group.
He has a wealth of experience representing Japanese companies in various litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters for about 20 years. From 2003 to 2004, he lived in Tokyo and worked at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto Law Office. From 2004 to 2012, he was an adjunct professor at a law school in California in the field of intellectual property and technology law.
Notable cases handled by him include Move, Inc., National Association of Realtors, et al. V. Zillow, Inc., et al (Seattle, WA, settled for $1 million), Epic Systems Corp. v. Tata Consultancy Services (Madison, WA, Winning a $3000 million jury verdict.).He also has obtained numerous preliminary injunctions (PIs) and ex parte temporary restraining orders (TROs) in disputes over trade secrets. In 9, he received the California's Best Lawyer Award (CLAY Award) for his work in the trade secrets department. In addition, He has received numerous accolades in Super Lawyers, Rising Star, and Legal 4000 magazines.

Miwa Shoda, Partner
While in school, she passed the Japanese (former) bar exam in 2001 and worked as an attorney at Mori Hamada & Matsumoto, a major Japanese law firm, from 2004 to 2007. After graduating from the University of Chicago Law School LL.M. in 2008, she started working in Los Angeles. Since 2009, she has been a member of Jenner & Block LLP, and as a partner lawyer representing Japan Practice, various cases such as litigation, M & A, corporate law cases, intellectual property cases, privacy / data protection cases, antitrust cases, white-collar cases, etc. We represent many Japanese companies in such cases.
She has served as lead counsel in most of the cases in which Jenner & Block has represented Japanese companies. Ms. Shoda's extensive practical experience as an attorney both in Japan and the U.S., and her advice based on a thorough understanding of Japanese business culture, are highly regarded by Japanese companies in various industries that have faced legal issues in the U.S., where the legal system and business culture are very different.
She represents Japanese companies in a variety of industries.
