In conducting business activities, companies are required to fulfill various social responsibilities, such as transparent management, sound transactions, and consideration for the environment and society, as well as to comply with regulations. In recent years in particular, the boundaries of these responsibilities have expanded beyond the boundaries of laws and traditional corporate ethics, becoming broader and more unclear.
In such a situation, how do companies and organizations think and what mechanisms do they have to deal with compliance risks? The idea of a compliance program is becoming more widespread in Japan as well.
Compliance programs cannot be considered apart from the design, characteristics, and business reality of a company or organization. It is important for each organization to evaluate the risks it faces and, based on that, design and implement a realistic and effective program.
