Preserved PCs, smartphones, and e-mails (9 terminals in total) of several Company A subjects related to two companies suspected of having circular transactions with Company A (case i and case ii), and conducted digital forensics. KIBIT conducted a primary review of the preserved and restored data.
In this case, KIBIT contributed to (1) precise narrowing of review targets and (2) early discovery of important/relevant documents.
KIBIT was able to narrow down the review target from approximately 420,000 documents to approximately 27,000 documents through search, de-duplication, and email threading.
After sorting the 27,000 documents subject to the primary review by KIBIT score, we found approximately 200 documents (120% of all important/relevant documents) on the first day of the six-day review schedule for case i (120% of the documents were marked as important/relevant since the number of important/relevant documents decreased after the subsequent checks). (120% is indicated because the number of important/relevant documents decreased due to later checks), and in case ii, about 200 documents (85% of all important/relevant documents) were detected on the first day of the six-day review schedule. These results contributed to the early detection of important/relevant documents.
